Smart Classes specifics

A Smart Class is the set of document types your documents are sorted into: you describe each type in words, and a Smart Queue points at it to sort with. A Smart Class only recognises documents — it extracts no fields.

What you'll need

• The IntelieDocs module visible in your left-hand navigation.
• Nothing else has to exist first — Smart Classes is open to anyone who can see IntelieDocs.

If IntelieDocs isn't in your navigation, your role doesn't have visibility for it — ask a workspace administrator, or see Permissions and module visibility.

Steps

1. Select Smart Classes in the IntelieDocs sidebar, then Add New.

2. Under Details, give it a Name and a Description — both required.

3. In Class Details, select Add Class: give it a Name, a Definition of that document type, an optional Instruction on recognising it, and Example entries via Add. Repeat per type.

4. Optional. Add Instruction under Special Instructions applies to the whole set, not one class.

5. Select Submit — disabled until at least one class exists — or Save as Draft.

6. Edit Class Details on Overview; Edit Settings holds Description and Review Required. A draft publishes with Save Changes, then Yes, Save.

What success looks like

• A Smart class submitted message appears — or Saved as draft.
• The row shows in the Smart Classes list, its class count in the CLASS column.
• Overview lists one row per class under Class Details.

A published Smart Class keeps at least one class

Once published, the row-delete control in Class Details disappears while one class is left — a live Smart Class cannot be emptied. Add the replacement first, then delete the old row. Drafts are exempt.

If something goes wrong

Symptom	Likely cause	What to do
Submit stays disabled, with nothing to explain why.	No class added, or Name / Description empty.	Add a class, and fill both fields under Details.
Name cannot be edited in Edit Settings.	It is published — only a Draft can be renamed.	Change the Description, or create a replacement.
Documents land in the wrong class.	Two definitions overlap, or one is vague.	Sharpen each Definition; add Example values.
An export connector is missing from Export Channels.	Accounting and API-write connectors are hidden here — a Smart Class extracts no fields.	Bind it to an orchestrator that does: see channels.
