Handling an exception

An Exception is where a document stops: a stage of processing failed, so there is nothing to review. It says what failed and where, and offers one way to run it again.

What you'll need

• The IntelieDocs module visible in your left-hand navigation.
• A document whose Status is Exception.

If IntelieDocs isn't in your navigation, your role doesn't have visibility for it — ask a workspace administrator, or see Permissions and module visibility.

Steps

1. Select its name in the documents list. A warning banner sits above the document, and the breadcrumb reads Document Status: Exception.

2. The banner gives the reason Elie reported, or An error occurred while processing this document. if it reported none. Failed Stage names where it stopped — Text extraction (OCR), Classification, Data extraction, PII analysis or Redaction rendering — with an error code beside it.

3. Once the cause is dealt with, select Retry Submit — the only re-run offered here. It repeats the whole pipeline. If a newer configuration version exists it opens Reprocess Document first: choose Retry with old version or Use new version.

4. A Reprocessing started message appears and the badge returns to Processing. An open document refreshes itself every 10 seconds until it settles.

What success looks like

• Reprocessing started appears and the badge returns to Processing.
• The warning banner is gone, and the document settles on Waiting for Review or Completed.

If something goes wrong

Symptom	Likely cause	What to do
The banner only says An error occurred while processing this document.	Elie reported no reason.	Go by Failed Stage instead — see Troubleshooting.
No Retry Submit in the header.	The document is not in Exception.	Check Document Status: — a delivery failure offers Retry export instead.
Mark as Reviewed does nothing.	It is disabled, not hidden, on an Exception: a failed run left no fields to confirm.	Re-run the document first.
It returns to Exception with the same reason.	The file or the orchestrator configuration is the cause, not something transient.	Change what that stage needs, or Delete the document if it will never process.
Couldn't load version information. You can still retry with the current version.	The comparison could not be fetched.	Use new version is disabled; select Retry with old version.
