Document statuses explained
Every document carries one Status badge — in the list, on its grid card and on its own page. The badges below are the whole set, in the order a document moves through them.
The lifecycle, in order
| Status | What it means | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Processing | Elie is reading the document and running whatever the orchestrator asks for. | Wait. Nothing can be deleted while Elie is working on it — the delete icon is disabled and reads Document is still processing. |
| Password Required | The source PDF is locked, so processing stopped. This is a request, not a failure. | Select Enter Password on the document; processing starts again. |
| Waiting for Review | The document was read, and a person now has to confirm or correct what was found. | Review the fields, then select Mark as Reviewed. |
| Completed | Processing finished and nothing is waiting on you. | Nothing. Open it or download it. |
| Exporting | On its way out to a connector that delivers immediately. | Wait — this usually passes quickly. |
| Queued for Export | Held for a scheduled connector's next run. | Wait for the schedule, or deliver it now from the connector. |
| Exported | Delivered to every connector bound to the orchestrator. | Nothing. |
| Partially Exported | Some connectors took it, others refused it. | Select Retry export — it retries only the ones that failed. |
| Export Failed | No connector accepted it. | Fix the connector, then select Retry export. |
| Exception | Processing itself failed. This is where a document stops, not a stage it passes through. | Select Retry Submit once the cause is fixed — see Exceptions. |
| Archived | Set aside. Still readable and downloadable, but no longer edited. | Nothing, or delete it. |
Hover the badge for the reason
Exception, Export Failed and Partially Exported keep their detail in a tooltip on the badge itself, and nothing on screen hints that it is there. Exception gives the reason and the Failed Stage that produced it; the two export badges list every bound connector with Delivered or Failed against it.
Two things that catch people out
The list does not refresh itself. A document that has moved on keeps showing its old badge until you select Refresh or open it — only an open document updates on its own.
Uploaded can appear in the status filter, but no document ever sits in it, so filtering by it returns an empty list.
