Curated question and answer pairs

A Q&A pair is a question plus the exact answer you want returned. Add one when retrieval keeps answering a common question woolly: only the question is matched, and your answer goes back verbatim.

What you'll need

• The Knowledge Base module visible in your left-hand navigation.
• A knowledge base you can manage — a refused save is the first sign of a missing permission.

If Knowledge Base isn't in your navigation, your role doesn't have visibility for it — ask a workspace administrator, or see Permissions and module visibility.

Steps

1. Open the knowledge base and select Q&A in the section list.

2. Select Add Q&A pair. Under Question, use the wording a reader would type in chat; under Answer, the complete, final response — shown exactly as written.

3. Under Access metadata, turn on Public, or tag Access role, Department or People group; Unrestricted / all internal users widens one. All three blank reaches nobody — the editor warns but saves anyway.

4. Save the panel — it reads Adding…, then Q&A pair created — indexing now. The pair answers once indexing finishes.

5. A pair cannot be edited. Select the delete icon on its row, confirm Delete Q&A pair, then add a replacement.

What success looks like

• The pair appears in the Q&A list with its Answer preview.
• On Ingest status its row reads Q&A pair and reaches Indexed.
• Asking it in chat returns your wording under a Curated answer pill.

Importing pairs in bulk

Import Q&A accepts .csv, .xlsx and .xls; Download sample.csv for the two-column question / answer layout. Imported rows get no access editor — each lands as internal and Unrestricted, so re-tune sensitive ones afterwards. Import results counts Imported, Skipped and Errors.

If something goes wrong

Symptom	Likely cause	What to do
The save stays disabled.	Question or Answer is empty.	Both are required.
Chat still answers from documents.	The wording did not match closely enough.	On Settings, set Q&A matching to Low (lenient).
The row shows Failed with an Error tag.	The tooltip says the entry is incomplete.	Delete it and add it again with both halves filled.
An imported row is counted under Skipped.	That question already exists — duplicates are skipped.	Delete the existing pair if the new answer should win.
