Glossary of Elie terms

Elie names things its own way, and a few words mean different things in different modules — Groups most of all. Each term below is defined once, in the wording the product itself uses, with the page that covers it properly.

Terms A–Z

TermWhat it means
Audit eventOne recorded action in your workspace — its time, action, outcome and actor. The log is immutable: nothing edits or deletes an event. Finding an event
ChannelAn IntelieKonnect connector attached to an orchestrator. Import Channels feed it; Export Channels deliver its results. Channels
Chunk, chunkingIngest splits each knowledge base document into chunks — the passages retrieval searches and cites. Chunking is the stage that does it. Ingest statuses
ConnectorA saved connection to an outside system, holding its credentials, configuration and schedule. How connectors work
Connector, exportDelivers finished documents and data out to a destination. Kept under Export Connectors. Export connectors
Connector, importPulls files or records in, on a schedule or on demand. Kept under Import Connectors. Import connectors
ConversationOne audio recording in a voice application, plus what the pipeline produced from it — its transcript, outputs and insights. Browsing conversations
DepartmentAn organisational grouping of people. It narrows who can reach something and grants no permissions of its own. Departments
Engagement StatusWhether a connector's credentials currently work — Connected or Not Connected. Shown separately from its lifecycle status. Connector statuses
EntitlementA component your organisation's plan switches on. A permission on a component you are not entitled to does nothing. What your role can see
ExceptionThe status a document lands in when a processing stage fails. Where the service reported one, the badge's tooltip names the stage and reason. Handling an exception
GradeA conversation's score against your rubric, banded from Excellent down to Poor, with 70 as the pass mark. Grading
Group (documents)A set of related documents inside an IntelieDocs orchestrator, on its Groups tab. Unrelated to a people group. Grouping documents
Group (people)A named set of users in Access Control, used to grant or narrow access. The Knowledge Base calls the same thing a People group. Groups
Hash chainEach audit event carries a fingerprint of the one before it, so removing or altering an event breaks the chain. Verify Integrity walks it. Chain integrity
IngestEverything a knowledge base does to a document after upload — parsing, chunking, embedding, indexing — tracked on Ingest status. Ingest statuses
InvitationThe email that brings a new user into your organisation. It sits on Invitations until accepted, expired or revoked. Invitations
Knowledge BaseA collection of documents and Q&A pairs that answers questions from what it holds, citing the passages it used. How it works
OrchestratorOne configured document pipeline in IntelieDocs, with its own documents, channels and visibility. Each is a Smart Extract, Smart Classes, Smart Queue or Smart Redact. What an orchestrator is
PermissionA single right, such as reading a document or triggering an export. Roles carry permissions; you assign roles to people. Permissions
PersonaA named speaker in a voice application, enrolled from a few short audio samples on Personas. Managing personas
Q&A pairA question with an approved answer, curated on a knowledge base's Q&A tab rather than extracted from a document. Q&A pairs
RetrievalThe search step that ranks the chunks most relevant to a question, before any answer is written. Asking questions
Retrieval traceThe record of one question — what was retrieved, and what came back. Reading a trace
RoleA named bundle of permissions you assign to users. Badged SYSTEM for the seeded roles, CUSTOM for yours. Managing roles
SentimentHow positive or negative a conversation sounds, banded from Very negative to Very positive. Topics and sentiment
Smart ClassesThe orchestrator type that defines a document class — everything that counts as an invoice, say. Smart Classes
Smart ExtractThe orchestrator type that pulls named fields — invoice number, amount, date — out of a document for review. Smart Extract
Smart QueueThe orchestrator type that classifies each document, then hands it to the Smart Extract mapped to its type. Smart Queue
Smart RedactThe orchestrator type that detects personal information and removes it from the copy people see — plus anything a reviewer draws a box over — keeping the original behind its own permission. Smart Redact
SourceA connected import connector that keeps feeding one knowledge base. Anything you add by hand is a one-off upload instead. What a source is
TenantYour organisation on the platform. Every user, document, connector and audit event belongs to exactly one. What is Elie
TopicA theme extracted from conversations once they have been processed, shown on Topics & Sentiment. Topics and sentiment
Visibility ScopeWho can reach one orchestrator — lists of Roles, Departments, Groups and, where the module offers it, Users. Setting visibility scope
Voice applicationOne voice pipeline and everything under it: conversations, personas, settings and analytics. Listed under Applications. Creating an application
