Deactivating and reactivating a tenant
Deactivate Tenant moves an Active tenant to Suspended and stores the reason you type. Activate Tenant reverses it, from the tenant list or the tenant's own page.
- The Tenants module visible in your left-hand navigation.
- A tenant that is Active (to deactivate) or Suspended (to reactivate).
If Tenants isn't in your navigation, your role doesn't have visibility for it — ask a workspace administrator, or see Permissions and module visibility.
Steps
Select Tenants from the menu at the top-left of the header — its panel is headed Available Apps — or select a card on Overview.
Select the Deactivate Tenant icon under ACTIONS on the tenant’s row, or Deactivate Tenant in the toolbar on the tenant’s own page. It appears only on an Active tenant.
The dialogue titled Deactivate plus the tenant’s name reads “Provide a reason for deactivating this tenant. The user will be blocked from logging in.” Type a Reason; Deactivate stays disabled until you do.
Select Deactivate. Tenant deactivated successfully! confirms it and the badge changes to Suspended. Cancel changes nothing.
On a Suspended tenant select Activate Tenant, then Activate in the dialogue: “Once activated, the user will be able to log in and resume their services.” The dialogue does not name the tenant, so check the row first.
What success looks like
- The badge reads Suspended, and Tenant Details shows a Suspension Reason card carrying the reason you typed.
- After Activate Tenant, Tenant activated successfully! appears, the badge reads Active and the Suspension Reason card is gone.
Delete is a separate action
Delete sits beside Deactivate Tenant on the same row and the same toolbar, but it is a different action with its own dialogue — Delete Tenant, confirmed with Yes, Delete. It collects no reason, and it is not how you pause a tenant.
If something goes wrong
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No Deactivate Tenant on the row or in the toolbar. | The tenant is not Active — a Suspended tenant offers Activate Tenant instead, and Offboarding or Deleted tenants offer only View. | Read the status badge — see Finding and creating a tenant. |
| Deactivate stays greyed out. | The Reason box is empty, or holds only spaces. | Type a reason, for example payment overdue. |
| Something went wrong appears and the status does not change. | The request was refused, or the server was unreachable. | Select Refresh List to check the status, then repeat the action. |
